our values
I realized early on that it was important to have my business reflect the lessons I’ve learned from my life experiences.
Being true to who I am has shaped Mollygoggles’ company values.
As a former teacher, I place a high value on learning and education. And as an artist I value the art, craftsmanship and cultural traditions I have been fortunate enough to observe in my travels in South America.
And as a business owner, I know I can make a difference.
Our values at work ...
Mollygoggles sweaters are made in Peru by our highly talented artisans.
It is a huge responsibility running a business in a foreign country. A responsibility I take very seriously and very personally. I see myself as a social entrepreneur, and, as such, I am always revisiting these questions:
• How can we can run a good business that helps our artisans continually grow and improve their lives?
• How can we give back to the community?
For more than twenty years our company has been committed to improving the lives of our artisans. Fair wages, health benefits and comfortable working conditions are just the beginning. We offer education and opportunity to help improve their skills and business acumen. We encourage their professional and personal growth.
We have brought the artisans here, to the United States, so they understand the U.S. market. They have observed first hand our distribution and how it works. They have seen their work in major department stores and our specialty stores.
We have reached beyond the workplace to know our artisans in their communities and even in their homes. Where there is a deficiency in their lives we have worked to change it. We have seen first hand that learning does not begin and end in a class or workroom, but must be integrated into the fabric of the lives of the people that you are working with.
While Mollygoggles' mission is to design, create and deliver delightful children’s sweaters, we believe how we go about doing that makes all the difference.
